by Tesla chief executive Elon Musk has confirmed that the Model X Plaid will be updated to include the same Track Mode function as the Model S Plaid.
The car manufacturer first introduced a Track Mode into one of its vehicles, namely the Model 3, a few years ago and in January 2022, introduced a similar feature to the flagship Model S Plaid. The new Track Mode brings with it a host of advancements, including optimized cooling, torque vectoring, and adds adjustable dynamics settings.
Elon Musk was asked about the possibility of a Track Mode being added to the Model X Plaid during the carmaker’s recent Annual Shareholder Meeting.
“Yeah, we could probably add that, sure. No problem,” Musk responded.
Of course, the number of Model X Plaid owners that will ever venture near a racetrack is very small but we know that enthusiasts of the brand love any new feature that Tesla rolls out. Even with a Track Mode, there are only so many software changes Tesla could make to the Model X Plaid to better cater to high-speed driving on a track without it actually upgrading key mechanical parts of the SUV, like its suspension system.
