Tesla has added a new seven-seat option to its Model Y line-up, expanding the appeal of the UKâs best-selling electric car with a more family-focused configuration.
The new seven-seat layout is offered exclusively on the Model Y Premium Long Range All-Wheel Drive and commands a £2,500 premium over the regular five-seater, taking the price to £54,490. Tesla quotes a maximum range of up to 372 miles.
The new seven-seater follows the introduction of the lower-cost £41,990 Rear-Wheel Drive Model Y and the range-topping Model Y Performance version over the past year, broadening the carâs reach across different types of buyer.
At the heart of the update is two forward-facing chairs designed to fold flat into the floor when not in use. Tesla says the layout is aimed at families needing extra flexibility, allowing the car to carry up to seven occupants while still retaining what it describes as âsegment-leading cargo capacityâ.
