In China, the Mona M03 is offered in six different model grades and it has a maximum EV driving range of 620km on the lenient Chinese market CLTC protocol. It is powered by a single-motor setup with 160kW of power and 250Nm of torque. It comes with a lithium iron phosphate blade-style battery. But is the XPeng Mona M03 coming to Australia? And could this affordable electric sedan take XPeng to the next level? It is confirmed for right-hand-drive production and global consumption so there’s a good chance it will end up Down Under. 2026 XPeng Mona 03 XPeng importer TrueEV’s local PR agency isn’t saying much about the future of the Mona M03, but TrueEV CEO Jason Clarke has previously told CarsGuide there is interest in offering the small sedan here. “Is there room in that [non-SUV] category? I gotta say, yes,” he said back in March this year. “Independently, I think there’s room for this and I think this car could potentially break open this category if the price-point is right,” said Mr Clarke. 2026 XPeng Mona 03 “I think if it was a regular sedan, no it wouldn’t work, but this is something different. “The tech involved at this price point is crazy, and the thing is traditionally, you’re taught in marketing that you can’t have cheap and quality it’s one or the other. But the benchmark for quality is so high now, and if we can land it for that price point, it’s insane. It’s unheard of.” It’s unlikely to have a mid-$25k price tag if it gets the official green light for Australia, but expect it to be competitive against, and possibly undercut, the BYD Seal which currently kicks off from $49,888 before on-road costs.
