Isro-trained astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, Axion-4 crew set to return
The Axiom-4 (Ax-4) mission is set to undock from the International Space Station (ISS) on Monday at 4:30 PM IST, the Ministry of Science and Technology announced on Sunday. The mission carries Shubhanshu Shukla, the first Indian to visit the ISS via a private spaceflight and trained by ISRO.
Shukla is expected to splash down back on Earth on July 15 at around 3:00 PM IST. Both the undocking and splashdown timings come with a margin window of about one hour.
Shubhanshu Shukla Earth Return Live Updates: The Axiom-4 (Ax-4) mission, carrying Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla and three other astronauts, undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) at around 4:45pm IST on July 14.
The undocking marked the beginning of their return journey to Earth aboard SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft ‘Grace’.
Shubhanshu Shukla, trained by the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro), is the first Indian to reach the ISS via a private spaceflight.
During their 18-day stay aboard the orbital outpost, the Ax-4 crew conducted a series of scientific and outreach activities as part of the mission.
The crew’s splashdown on Earth is expected at approximately 3:00pm IST on July 15, with a one-hour margin of variation.
