Tesla has been evaluating the Model 3 and Model Y in India for a while, and with SUVs dominating the Indian market, Elon Musk’s electric vehicle company is set to launch the Model Y SUV as its first EV in the country. Reports suggest the debut is slated for mid-July at the opening of Tesla’s first dealership in Mumbai. The Model Y, manufactured in China, has already seen its initial batch arrive in India, with a recent sighting during testing in Hyderabad. Here’s everything you need to know about Tesla’s electric SUV.
Tesla Model Y: Design
Tesla launched the 2025 Model Y earlier this year, featuring subtle design updates. The SUV now boasts a connected LED daytime running light (DRL) paired with a split headlight design. The LED headlights are integrated into the front bumper, nestled within an L-shaped air dam. The front fascia maintains a sleek, grille-free appearance. Tesla has stuck to a simple look without any character lines, hence, in the side profile, the flush handlebars and the 19-inch alloy wheels stand out. There is an option to upsize to 20-inch. With a sloping roofline, the Model Y has a couple-like road presence with a simple connected LED tail light.
