The Netflix Cancellation Trend Isn’t Dying Down As Elon Musk Encourages Boycott Over ‘Dead End: Paranormal Park’
The hosts of The View laid into Elon Musk for criticizing Christopher Nolan‘s decision to cast Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o to play Helen of Troy in his highly anticipated adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey.
Whoopi Goldberg looked right into the camera as she directly addressed the tech entrepreneur for claiming Nolan “has lost his integrity” by casting Nyong’o in the role. Musk wrote in response to someone on X claiming the casting choice went against the character description, which they wrote was “fair skinned, blonde, and ‘the face that launched a thousand ships’ because she was so beautiful that men started a war over her.”
“You don’t actually have to go to the movie,” Goldberg reminded Musk. “I would suggest looking in the mirror if you have any concerns of other people’s looks. And don’t try to clown me baby I know what I look like.”
She continued, “There’s so many things I want to say to you that are rude and awful but I won’t do it. But know that I’m thinking it.”
Sunny Hostin laughed at Goldberg’s response and agreed, adding that “anyone can portray a fictional character,” and, “It doesn’t have to be a white person that plays this part.”
She also went on to accuse Musk of being “a white supremacist,” using his recent social media activity as evidence.

“I think we have to call a thing a thing when we’re talking about someone like Elon Musk. He has trafficked in white supremacy on the internet, on social media, on X, for quite some time,” she told her co-hosts. “He sparked some controversy just on January 8, calling for white solidarity and warning that white men will be slaughtered if they became a minority, he also posted in September that white people are rapidly diminishing minority of the global population.”
After rattling off multiple examples of posts Musk has made on X in recent months, she added, “We know what this is. He is a white supremacist. In my view, he is a racist.”
Decider reached out for comment but did not hear back in time of publication.
Sara Haines then joked that Musk would likely not enjoy hearing about yet another popular debate.
“Maybe no one should tell him Jesus was Middle Eastern because that’s also a debate that people have of a much older book,” she quipped.
When they later wrapped up the segment, Goldberg demanded that Musk “just sit down when it comes to artistic stuff,” prompting Joy Behar to add, “Or for politics, he should sit down.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
