The downfall of Elon Musk
Elon Musk once had some popular clout thanks to his starring in several hit cult shows like The Big Bang Theory and Rick & Morty. Among his appearances was one on The Simpsons a decade ago in 'The Musk Who Fell to Earth' that appears to also part predict the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The episode's storyline appears to have eerily predicted the richest man in the world's fall from grace - starting with his role in beefing up Springfield with an all-new power plant and electric cars after befriending Homer Simpson.
But much like in real life, Musk overstays his welcome, telling Mr Burns that his plans have resulted in Springfield losing up to $50 million (£37 million) per financial quarter, and leading the series villain to implement DOGE-esque mass layoffs. Those layoffs hit Homer's friends Karl and Lenny, leaving Musk highly unpopular and leading Homer to end their relationship before he boards a SpaceX ship and leaves Springfield.
In real life this year, Musk joined Donald Trump's administration as the leader of DOGE, but was later jettisoned by the president after a massive falling out, leading him to step away from political life for a spell.
