Officers located Rivas’ remains in a bag in the front trunk of the vehicle. Law enforcement sources told NBC News at the time that the remains were “not intact.” The vehicle had been impounded after a person reported that it was abandoned in the Hollywood Hills — neighbors in the area said it had been parked there for over a month when it was finally impounded.
