Tesla will inaugurate its first charging station in India on August 4, choosing Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) as the launch site. This initiative marks a major development for Tesla as it begins rolling out its own electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure in the country.
The new charging facility will be equipped with four V4 Supercharging units, each capable of delivering rapid charging speeds of up to 250kW. These superchargers will be accessible to customers at a rate of Rs 24 per kWh, making them among the fastest and most efficient public EV chargers currently available in India.

In addition to the superchargers, the station will offer destination chargers that supply a consistent 11kW charge, priced at Rs 14 per kWh. These slower chargers are intended for users looking for convenient, longer-duration charging while parked.
Tesla's charging station launch follows the introduction of the Model Y rear-wheel-drive (RWD) in India on July 15. On the same day, the US-based carmaker also activated its official India website, allowing users to initiate bookings. For now, the electric SUV is available for registration only in Delhi, Gurugram and Mumbai.
The entry-level standard RWD variant of the Model Y is priced at Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Long Range RWD variant is available at Rs 67.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries for both versions are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2025.
