Like the previous seven-seat Model Y, the third row in the Juniper will be very cramped.
Tesla reportedly confirmed the news in an email sent to many of its customers.
The company is also working on a new Performance version of the Model Y with 510 hp.
Families looking for a little more flexibility in their EV choices will soon have another option as Tesla is preparing to bring back the seven-seat Model Y. The reintroduction should, at least in theory, broaden the appeal of the updated Juniper model. And the timing matters, because Tesla is currently struggling with sluggish demand in many major markets and is fighting to retain its share of the EV market.
The seven-seat setup isn’t new to the Model Y, but it’s been more of a recurring guest star than a permanent fixture. First offered in 2021 in the original Model Y, it vanished the following year before returning briefly in 2024. Tesla hasn’t released images of the new configuration just yet. The photo you see above is from the previous Model Y.
News of the updated version only surfaced after the company reportedly sent out an email describing the model as offering “seating for up to seven and enough room for everyone’s gear”, as seen in a tweet shared by user DennisCW, among others.
