
3PL Provider Thyssenkrupp Trials Tesla EV Semi-Truck

Thyssenkrupp Supply Chain Services says that it has tested out Tesla's electric semi-truck over 5,000 miles in winter conditions, as the 3PL provider pushes forward on its path toward net-zero emissions.
According to a June 26 release from the company, thyssenkrupp recently finished a pilot program with Tesla's EV semi at a logistics hubs in California, to evaluate the vehicle's efficiency and performance. Tesla advertises its semi-truck as capable of traveling 500 miles on a single charge, with the ability to recover as much as 70% of of its range in 30 minutes using one of the company's branded semi chargers.
Thyssenkrupp has a goal to achieve carbon neutral status globally by 2050, and as early as 2045 in Germany to align with the country's climate change requirements passed in 2018. Between 2022 and 2023, telematics firm Geotab also tracked an 81% increase in EV adoption among all U.S. commercial fleets, while consultancy TRC Company found that the number of new electric vehicles delivered to schools, states, long haul sectors and more doubled in 2023.
