The incident happened just after 2 a.m. Saturday, leaving deep tire tracks across Argeri Sequeira’s lawn and what she says was thousands of dollars in damage to her property — including her Tesla and Cybertruck, which were parked in the driveway, located in the 1700 block of Southwest 31st Avenue.
Noon report:
Fort Lauderdale police said one of the occupants of the SUV requested a medic and was transported to Broward Health Medical Center with minor injuries.
“This is pretty devastating,” Sequeira told Local 10’s Linnie Supall. “We started cleaning and we started cleaning over there,” she added, gesturing to the torn-up grass and debris scattered across her yard.
6 p.m. report:
The exclusive video shows a chaotic scene: the SUV ramming through the yard and coming to a stop just feet from the house.
Seconds later, two individuals can be seen stumbling out of the SUV — one of them bleeding from the nose.
The driver is then seen circling the SUV to inspect the damage before jumping back inside and speeding off. The car’s bumper was barely hanging on as they fled the scene.
Another angle from Sequeira’s home surveillance system showed a car in the middle of the road after the impact. It’s believed that car belongs to an innocent driver.
Sequeira told Local 10 News she watched the SUV peel away at high speed.
“I saw them … I saw the car going like crazy,” she said. “We started cleaning but it’s a huge mess over there.”
“It’s difficult to sleep here after this,” she added. “You’re waiting and expecting another accident in the middle of the night.”
Sequeira said both vehicles was so badly damaged that they had to be towed Tuesday.
Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
