As wildfires rage across Canada, SpaceX's Starlink is offering a free month of satellite internet to help affected residents stay connected.
The deal, announced Thursday, applies to new and existing customers, including those who have paused or previously canceled their Starlink service. "For existing active customers, no action is needed. We have proactively applied a one-month service credit,” the company wrote in a support document.
“For currently cancelled or paused customers, we have also applied a credit for the amount of your previous service plan, enabling you to reactivate and utilize the service credit during this time period,” SpaceX added. This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.
The company published a map of where it’s offering the free month of service. However, new customers interested in taking advantage of the deal will need to own the Starlink dish.
The standard dish model normally costs $499 CAD. But consumers in Canada (including in wildfire-hit areas) can get the hardware for free as part of an ongoing Starlink promotion. In exchange, the customer has to commit to a one-year Starlink residential subscription.

"If you are a new customer in the affected areas and purchase a Starlink, please reach out to support after purchase to receive free service through July 5th, 2025," the company wrote in the support document.
"If your Starlink kit has been impacted by the wildfires, please contact support requesting assistance to provide you with a free replacement," it adds.
