A major service outage is being reported Saturday on the X social media platform owned by Elon Musk, with scores of users unable to create posts or load content, according to published reports and outage trackers.
The DownDetector website said more than 25,000 X outages have been reported during the past 24 hours in what NDTV.com says is a “massive outage” that is preventing users from posting content on the popular social media site, which was formerly known as Twitter.
The outage reportedly began on Thursday, persisted Friday and became more widespread Saturday morning.
“Users faced various problems, including difficulty signing in and not receiving direct messages,” NDTV reported. “The outage caused inconvenience for many people trying to use the platform on both desktop and mobile devices.”
Wired magazine says the service outage started when a fire occurred Thursday morning “at a data center in Hillsboro, Oregon, leased by Elon Musk’s X, forcing an extended response from emergency crews.”
